Dari Ibnu Umar RA Nabi Muhammad SAW bersabda,

"Seorang wanita dimasukkan ke dalam neraka karena seekor kucing (https://www.detik.com/tag/kucing) yang dia ikat dan tidak dibiarkan makan bahkan tidak diperkenankan makan binatang-binatang kecil yang ada di lantai." 

(HR Bukhari, Kitab Ahadits Al-Anbiya, 3467; Muslim, Kitab As-Salam, 2245) 

Kucing merupakan haiwan yang comel dan termasuk dalam haiwan yang istimewa di dalam Islam sebab merupakan haiwan peliharaan Nabi Muhammad SAW yang sangat disayangi.

Ramai orang yang masih merasa takut untuk memelihara kucing kerana dikhuatiri membawa keburukan dalam kesihatan. Akan tetapi, semua makhluk yang diciptakan Allah di muka bumi ini tentunya mempunyai kegunaannya masing-masing sama seperti halnya dengan kucing.

Umat muslim sangat dianjurkan untuk memelihara, memberi makan dan juga minum pada haiwan seperti kucing khususnya saat haiwan tersebut sedang lapar dan haus sebab akan jadi berdosa jika membiarkan haiwan tersebut menderita. Dengan memelihara kucing tersebut, maka sudah dijadikan pahala bersedekah bagi orang tersebut.

“Pada setiap sedekah terhadap mahluk yang memiliki hati (jantung) yang basah (hidup) akan dapatkan pahala kebaikan. Seorang muslim yang menanam tanaman atau tumbuh-tumbuhan yang kemudian dimakan oleh burung-burung, manusia, atau binatang, maka baginya sebagai sedekah” (Bukhori, Muslim)

“Seorang wanita pel4cur melihat seekor anjing di atas jalan dan hampir m4ti kerana haus. Lalu wanita itu menanggalkan kasutnya, lalu diikatnya dengan selendangnya dan mengambil air dari telaga (lalu diberi kepada anjing itu). Dengan perbuatannya itu d0sanya diampuni”. (HR. Bukhari).

Berdasarkan hadis di atas, ternyata besar hikmahnya menjaga kucing yang juga merupakan haiwan kesayangan rasullullah saw. 

NABI Muhammad SAW memiliki seekor kucing yang diberi nama Mueeza. Suatu saat, di kala Nabi hendak mengambil jubahnya, ditemuinya Mueeza sedang terlelap tidur dengan santai diatas jubahnya.Tak ingin mengganggu hewan kesayangannya itu, Nabi pun memotong belahan lengan yang ditiduri Mueeza dari jubahnya.

Ketika Nabi kembali ke rumah, Muezza terbangun dan merunduk sujud kepada majikannya. Sebagai balasan, Nabi menyatakan kasih sayangnya dengan mengelus lembut ke badan mulus kucing itu sebanyak 3 kali.

Dalam keadaan lain, setiap kali Nabi menerima tetamu di rumahnya, nabi selalu mengendong mueeza dan di letakkan dipahanya. Salah satu sifat Mueeza yang Nabi sukai ialah ia selalu mengeow ketika mendengar adzan, dan seolah-olah suaranya terdengar seperti mengikuti lantunan suara adzan.

Menyayangi kucing dan melayan kucing samalah seperti memberi layanan kepada hamba Allah yang lain. Menerima seadaanya dan melayan sepertimana manusia perlukan kasih dan sayang. Begitulah dalam konteks haiwan secara menyeluruh dan secara khusus, kepada kucing peliharaan. 

Pernahkah anda bertemu dengan kucing yang istimewa bermata biru hijau atau juling? Atau anda penjaga kucing yang dicipta dengan istimewanya ini? Anda bertuah kerana anda berada bersama haiwan yang istimewa ini.

Situasi kucing juling dalam bidang perubatan dipanggil strabismus. Juling disebabkan trauma, kanser, keradangan saraf atau kecacatan sejak lahir. Juling pada kucing mungkin terjadi pada dua mata sekaligus ataupun hanya pada salah satu bola mata saja. Salah satu penyebabnya adalah luka atau penyakit pada bagian mata yang mencederai sistem vestibular. Kerosakan pada saraf mata atau adanya penyakit yang menyerang bahagian dalam telinga juga menyumbang kepada mata menjadi tidak seimbang, sehingga terjadilah mata juling atau mata bergetar.

Jika terjadi kepada kucing anda, tiada rawatan diperlukan kerana ia tidak mengganggu penglihatan mereka. Walaubagaimanapun, anda dinasihatkan membawa mereka ke veterinar untuk pemeriksaan lanjut. Sebagai penjaga, anda mungkin perlu perhatikan kucing anda tidak mudah jatuh atau melanggar objek lain disebabkan ketidakseimbangan penglihatan mereka.

Jika kucing anda juling sejak lahir, maka anda tidak perlu melakukan apa-apa kerana ia tidak mempengaruhi penglihatannya. Biarlah itu menjadi kelebihannya. 

Sepertimana kucing bernama Spangles, dek kerana mata julingnya, ia menjadi kucing yang terkenal di internet. Namun jika keadaan kucing tersebut terjadi kerana pernah cedera atau disebabkan penyakit, sewajarnya bawalah berjumpa dengan doktor untuk mendapatkan rawatan anti-inflammatory.

 “Orang yang penyayang maka juga akan disayangi oleh Allah. Sayangilah makhluk Allah yang ada di muka bumi, maka nescaya akan disayangi penghuni langit juga.”

British Shorthair

The British Shorthair is the pedigreed version of the traditional British domestic cat, with a distinctively chunky body, dense coat and broad face. The most familiar color variant is the "British Blue", a solid blue-gray with copper eyes, medium tail, but the breed has also been developed in a wide range of other colours and patterns, including tabby and colorpoint.

It is one of the most ancient cat breeds known, probably originating from European domestic cats imported into Britain by the invading Romans in the first century AD. In modern times it remains the most popular pedigreed breed in its native country, as registered by the UK's Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF).

The breed's good-natured appearance and relatively calm temperament make it a frequent media star, notably as the inspiration for John Tenniel's famous illustration of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. The Cat Fanciers' Association profile reads: "When gracelessness is observed, the British Shorthair is duly embarrassed, quickly recovering with a 'Cheshire cat smile'”.

Kucing Siam

The Siamese cat is one of the first distinctly recognized breeds of Asian cat. Derived from the Wichianmat landrace, one of several varieties of cat native to Thailand (formerly known as Siam), the Siamese became one of the most popular breeds in Europe and North America in the 19th century. The carefully refined modern Siamese is characterized by blue almond-shaped eyes; a triangular head shape; large ears; an elongated, slender, and muscular body; and point colouration. (Aside from the colouration, it bears little resemblance to the original stock, and the more moderate, traditional or "old-style" Siamese, with a much rounder head and body, has been re-established by multiple registries as the Thai cat.) The International Cat Association describes the modern Siamese as social, intelligent, and playful into adulthood, often enjoying a game of fetch. Siamese tend to seek human interaction and also like companionship from other cats.

The Siamese (sometimes in the traditional form) is among the foundation stock of several other breeds developed by crossbreeding with other cats; some examples are the Oriental Shorthair and Colourpoint Shorthair, developed to expand the range of coat patterns; the long-haired variant most often dubbed the Himalayan; and hair-mutation breeds including the Cornish Rex, Sphynx, Peterbald, and the blue point Siamese cat.The Siamese cat comes in two distinct variations: traditional, with an apple-shaped head and a slightly chubby body; or the modern Siamese, which are skinny and have a large head, and are the more stereotypical and iconic when one thinks about the Siamese.

Kucing Parsi (Persian Cat)

The Persian cat (Persian: گربه ایرانی Gorbe Irâni) is a long-haired breed of cat characterized by its round face and short muzzle. It is also known as the Persian Longhair in the English-speaking countries. In the Middle East region they are widely known as Iranian cat and in Iran they are known as Shirazi cat. The first documented ancestors of the Persian were imported into Italy from Iran (historically known as Persia) around 1620.^[1] The exact history of the Persian cat does seem to be a bit of a mystery but many of these long-haired cats were seen in hieroglyphics. The story has it that these long-haired cats were then imported into Europe as their popularity grew and breeding took place in Italy and France.

The Persian cat was first presented at the world's first organised cat show in 1871 in London, England, before making its way to the United States of America in the early 1900s. The Persian cat breeding standards have always called for a cat with a short face, but it's important to note that the Persian cat originally had a much longer nose than the flat-faced Persians of today. Hereditary polycystic kidney disease is prevalent in the breed, affecting almost half the population in some countries.

In 2015 it was ranked as the 2nd most popular breed in the United States according to the Cat Fanciers' Association.^[4] The first is the Exotic breed.

Ragdoll Cat

The Ragdoll is a cat breed with blue eyes and a distinct colourpoint coat. It’s a large and muscular semi-longhair cat with a soft and silky coat. Like all long haired cats, Ragdolls need grooming to ensure their fur does not mat. It is recommended Ragdolls are given baths once a month. Developed by American breeder Ann Baker in the 1960s, it is best known for its docile and placid temperament and affectionate nature. The name "Ragdoll" is derived from the tendency of individuals from the original breeding stock to go limp and relaxed when picked up. Particularly popular in both the United Kingdom and the breed's native United States, ragdoll cats often are known as "dog-like cats" or "puppy-like cats" due to behaviors such as their tendency to follow people around, their ease at being physically handled, and their relative lack of aggression toward other pets.

Maine Coon

The Maine Coon is one of the largest domesticated breeds of cat. It has a distinctive physical appearance and valuable hunting skills. It is one of the oldest natural breeds in North America, specifically native to the state of Maine,^[3] where it is the official state cat.

The Maine Coon is a large and sociable cat, hence its nickname, "the gentle giant." It is characterized by a prominent ruff along its chest, robust bone structure, triangular body shape, an uneven two layered coat with longer guard hairs with a silky satin under layer undercoat, and a long, bushy tail. The breed's colors vary widely, with only lilac and chocolate disallowed for pedigree. Reputed for its intelligence and playful, gentle personality, the Maine Coon is often cited as having "dog-like" characteristics.^[4][5] Professionals notice certain health problems in the breed including feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hip dysplasia, but reputable breeders use modern screening methods to minimize the frequency of these problems. 

No records of the Maine Coon's exact origins and date of introduction to the United States exist, so several competing hypotheses have been suggested. The breed was popular in cat shows in the late 19th century, but its existence became threatened when long-haired breeds from overseas were introduced in the early 20th century. The Maine Coon has since made a comeback and is now one of the more popular cat breeds in the world.

Bengal cat

The Bengal is a domestic cat breed developed to look like exotic jungle cats such as leopards, ocelots, margays and clouded leopards. Bengal cats were developed by selective breeding from hybrids of the Asian leopard cat (ALC), Prionailurus bengalensis bengalensis, with domestic cat, backcrossed to domestic cats, with the goal of creating a confident, healthy, and friendly cat with a highly contrasted and vividly marked coat.

The name "Bengal cat" was derived from the taxonomic name of the Asian leopard cat (P. b. bengalensis). They have a "wild" appearance with large spots/rosettes/arrowheads, and a light/white belly, and a body structure reminiscent of the ALC.Bengals are an intelligent and active breed, and are known for being especially vocal and friendly. Once separated by at least four generations from the original ALC × domestic cat crossing, the breed's temperament resembles that of a domestic cat.

Bengal cats are generally a bright orange to light brown colour, although pale or off-white "snow" Bengals also exist, and are popular among owners.

Scottish Fold

The Scottish Fold is a breed of domestic cat with a natural dominant-gene mutation that affects cartilage throughout the body, causing the ears to "fold,” bending forward and down towards the front of the head, which gives the cat what is often described as an "owl-like" appearance.

Originally called lop-eared or lops after the lop-eared rabbit, Scottish Fold became the breed's name in 1966.^[1] Depending on registries, longhaired Scottish Folds are varyingly known as Highland Fold, Scottish Fold Longhair, Longhair Fold and Coupari.

Exotic Shorthair

The Exotic Shorthair is a breed of cat developed to be a short-haired version of the Persian. The Exotic is similar to the Persian in many ways, including temperament and conformation, a flat nose and face with the exceptions of the short dense coat.

In the late 1950s, the Persian was used as an outcross by some American Shorthair (ASH) breeders. This was done in secret in order to improve their body type, and crosses were also made with the Russian Blue and the Burmese. The crossbreed look gained recognition in the show ring, but unhappy American Shorthair breeders successfully produced a new breed standard that would disqualify ASH that showed signs of crossbreeding. One ASH breeder who saw the potential of the Persian/ASH cross proposed and eventually managed to get the Cat Fanciers' Association judge and American Shorthair breeder Jane Martinke to recognize them as a new breed in 1966, under the name Exotic Shorthair. Since 1987, the CFA closed the Exotic to shorthair outcrosses, leaving Persian as the only allowable outcross breed.

Because of the regular use of Persian as outcrosses, some Exotics may carry a copy of the recessive longhair gene. When two such cats mate, there is a 1 in 4 chance of each offspring being longhaired. Ironically, longhaired Exotics are not considered Persians by CFA, although The International Cat Association accepts them as Persians. Other associations like the American Cat Fanciers Association register them as a separate Exotic Longhair breed.

Munchkin cat

The Munchkin is a relatively new breed of cat characterized by its very short legs, which are caused by a genetic mutation. Much controversy erupted over the breed when it was recognized by The International Cat Association in 1995 with critics voicing concern over potential health and mobility issues.

The name "munchkin" derives from writer L. Frank Baum's diminutive inhabitants of Munchkin Country, originating in the 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Savannah cat

The Savannah is a hybrid cat breed. It is a cross between a serval and a domestic cat.
